Gerbils are small animals that inhabit arid desert areas. Its hind limbs are 1 to 2 times as long as the forelimbs, which are suitable for jumping. When jumping, it uses a long tail to keep its balance.
Gerbils have some bad habits that can cause serious harm to agriculture and animal husbandry, such as storing food too much and digging complicated burrows. In addition, this small animal is a spreader of many diseases.
How to Draw a Gerbil Easy Step by Step
Step 1 Draw the top of the gerbil's head
The gerbil is a fully-furred mammal, so we're going to draw it furry.
Draw zigzag lines from left to right to get the top of this gerbil's head.
We can see that the top of the head is somewhat arched, like many other animals.
Step 2 Draw the outline of the gerbil's head and an ear
Draw the right and bottom edges of this gerbil's head outline. Zig-zag lines are also used on the right edge to give the effect of fur.
We can see that the head of this gerbil is close to a circle, and it looks chubby and cute.
Starting from the right end of the top of the gerbil's head drawn in the first step, draw a curved line down to get an ear. Then add a curved line to this ear.
Step 3 Draw the left edge of the gerbil's head and the other ear
In a similar way to the previous step, draw the left edge of the gerbil's head. While the left and right edges look somewhat similar, they are not exactly symmetrical.
Then add another ear to the top left of this head.
Step 4 Add eyes, nose and mouth to this gerbil's face
On this head, vertically near the middle, draw two sloping ovals for the gerbil's eyes.
Draw two small circles inside each eye. Notice how the two small circles are positioned relative to each other, which is different in each eye.
Add an upside-down triangle for the nose just below the middle of the eyes. Draw this nose smaller.
Below the nose, draw a flat "w" to get the gerbil's mouth. Don't draw the mouth too big.
Step 5 Draw the left side of the gerbil's body
We've already drawn the gerbil's head in the previous steps, so let's draw its body next.
Starting at the bottom of the head, just below the eye on the left, draw lines down to get the left side of the gerbil's body.
Step 6 Add the right side of the gerbil's body
Also starting from the bottom of the head, under the right eye, draw lines down to get the right side of the gerbil's body.
We can see that the body of this gerbil is no bigger than the head, but it looks a little chubby.
Step 7 Draw the gerbil's feet and body
Draw a foot on the right of the left edge of the body, near the bottom.
Likewise, add another foot to the left on the right edge of the body, near the bottom too.
Then add curved lines between these two feet to get the outline of this gerbil's body.
Step 8 Draw the gerbil's arms and belly
Below this gerbil's head, draw two short arms that are nearly half the length of the body. The two arms are substantially symmetrical.
From the middle of the left edge of the left arm, draw a curved line down. Add a curved line down from the right edge of the right arm.
We got this gerbil's belly. Its big belly is cute, isn't it?
Step 9 Color this cartoon gerbil
The fur of the gerbil is sandy yellow. And we can choose pink for its nose, hands and feet, which will make it very cute. Most of the two eyes are painted black.
But this is just for your reference. Maybe you want your gerbil to be cool and offbeat, so feel free to try other colors!
