How to Draw a Door

The door is the necessary place for people to go in and out of the house, and almost everyone goes in and out every day. Even if you go camping outdoors, you will go through the tent door, unless you want to sleep in the open and wake up from the cold or bugs.

So, for us, the door is indispensable. It can shield us from the wind and rain, avoid certain disturbances, and provide a sense of security. Maybe since ancient times, human beings have had simple doors!

How to Draw a Door Step by Step

Step 1 Draw the two edges of the door frame

Let's draw the door frame first, and then draw a door.

Start by drawing a horizontal straight line from left to right. Then, starting from its right end, draw a line perpendicular to it down.

The ratio of the length of these two lines is about 1:2. This gives the top and right edges of the door frame.

Step 2 Draw the other two edges of the door frame

Starting at the left end of that horizontal line, draw a line perpendicular to it down to get the left edge of this door frame. The left and right edges of this door frame are the same length.

Then starting at the bottom end of this left edge, draw a short horizontal line to the right. It is about one-fifth the length of the top edge of the door frame.

In this way, we have drawn the outline of this door frame. It's actually an incomplete rectangle, and you can even complete it with a card.

Step 3 Draw the left border of the door frame

Let's look at the short horizontal line drawn in the previous step and find its roughly midpoint. Then draw a line perpendicular to this horizontal line with this point as the bottom.

Note the distance between the top of the vertical line and the top edge of the door frame, it should be less than the distance between the vertical line and the left edge of the door frame.

Then start at the top of this vertical line and draw a short horizontal line to the right.

At this point there are two short horizontal lines to the right of this vertical line, and they should be the same length.

Step 4 Draw the two edges of the door

Draw a vertical line past the right ends of the two short horizontal lines. You need to pay attention to the position of its top and bottom. This gets the left edge of the door.

Take a point near the top of the right edge of the door frame. This point should lie on the extension of the short horizontal line on the left.

Then connect the top of the vertical line to this point. This gets the top edge of the door.

Step 5 Draw the other two edges of the door

Starting at the right end of the top edge of the door, draw a vertical line down. The end of this line should be at the same level as the end of the right edge of the door frame.

Then connect the end of this line to the end of the right edge of the door frame. This gives the right border of the door frame.

At this point we get the left and right edges of this door. Connect their ends with a straight line.

Step 6 Draw the handle of this door

Near the left edge of the door, draw a line parallel to it to its right. Next we are going to draw a door handle.

Find the middle point of the line you just drew. Draw a small circle to the right of it. Then draw a curved line between this circle and the line.

Step 7 Add rectangles to this door

Let's draw the upper rectangle first, and then the lower slender rectangle.

The top and bottom edges of the big rectangle are parallel to the top edge of the door. Its left and right edges are parallel to the left and right edges of the door. You can draw any two parallel lines of the same length first, and then draw the other two.

In a similar way, draw an elongated rectangle next to the doorknob. But you need to notice that the top edge of this rectangle appears to be nearly horizontal.

Step 8 Draw two more rectangles on this door

In a similar way to the previous step, draw two other elongated rectangles.

Since this door is open, you need to pay attention to the change in spacing and size between the three elongated rectangles.

Step 9 Color this door

Before coloring the door, you need to consider both the colors of the wall and what environment is on the other side of the door. If you want to draw your own door, you can color your work next to them now!
