Seals are not fish but mammals and cannot stay in the water all the time like fish. Every once in a while, it will go to the surface of the water to breathe fresh air. It is born from the mother's womb just like us humans.
Seals have no strength in their limbs and cannot support their bulky bodies. So, on land, they can only wriggle and crawl like caterpillars. However, seals have strong swimming skills and are good at diving at the same time, so they use fish as their main food.
When in danger, the breathing hole on the ice becomes the escape channel for seals. After they burrow into holes in the ice, they swim quickly out to sea, leaving predators empty-handed.
How to Draw a Seal Step by Step
Step 1 Draw the outline of the seal's head
First draw the seal's head. It's in the shape of an upside-down "U" and you won't have a hard time doing it. Remember to draw it bigger.
Start by drawing a smooth curved line from left to right. The line should be symmetrical left and right, forming an arch.
Then draw a vertical line down from the left end of this curve. Draw a vertical line down the right end as well.
Step 2 Draw the eyes of this seal
If you connect the two ends of that curve with a straight line, then the seal's eyes are above this line.
Let's draw the eye on the left first. Draw a circle first, then inside it, draw a smaller circle in the upper right corner to complete the eye.
On the same horizontal line, draw the seal's right eye. The two eyes are exactly the same.
Step 3 Draw the nose and mouth of this seal
In this step, we will first draw the nose of the seal. Then draw its mouth and whiskers in turn.
Start by drawing a short horizontal line between the eyes. Then draw a curved line under it to connect its two ends. This completes the nose of this seal.
Using the nose as the midpoint, draw a bow-like shape. It is left-right symmetrical.
In the middle of the bottom of this "bow," draw a curved line from left to right. This completes the seal's mouth.
Finally add three straight lines on each side of the mouth for the whiskers. The face of this cute seal is complete!
Step 4 Draw one of the forelimbs of this seal
Before we draw one of the seal's forelimbs, let's take a look at it. It is a shape resembling a "U" rotated 90 degrees to the right.
We won't draw the seal's forelimbs very long, but short and cute.
Now draw one of the seal's forelimbs on the left side of the seal's body in a way that feels reasonable and comfortable to you.
Step 5 Draw the other forelimb of this seal
Now that we have drawn one of the seal's forelimbs, let's draw its right forelimb. The forelimbs of this seal are symmetrical.
The forelimb is also short and cute, in the shape of a "U" turned 90 degrees to the left.
Well, you can definitely do this step quickly. Then go ahead and start drawing the body and hind limbs of this seal.
Step 6 Draw one of the hind limbs of this seal
Let's look at that left forelimb of this seal. Draw a vertical line down from its bottom.
You need to notice that this line should be a downward extension of the vertical line that is the left edge of the head. Then draw a smooth curved line at the bottom end of this line towards the lower right.
Alright, we've drawn the left side of the body. Now draw the hind limb on the left. Draw an approximate "V" shape at the bottom of that curve!
Step 7 Draw the other hind limb of this seal
In a similar way to the previous step, draw the right side of the seal's body from the bottom of the right forelimb down.
Then draw another hind limb at the bottom of the body. The two hind limbs of this seal are symmetrical.
So far we have drawn this lovely seal. Do you feel like it's missing something?
Step 8 Add details on the body
We will add some circles to the body of this seal in this step. You can think of them as markings on the body, or bubbles in the water.
Draw three circles of different sizes on the lower left of the mouth. Then add another five circles near the bottom of the body.
In addition, you can also add some marine life next to the seal, such as various fish and crabs, shrimps, turtles and so on.
Step 9 Color this simple seal
The back of the seal is blue-gray, and the belly is creamy yellow with blue-black spots. Baby seals are darker in color.
But here, we will only need blue, light blue and black crayons or watercolor paints to color this seal.
You can also color the seal according to your own ideas, as long as you think it is reasonable!
