Sika deer are endemic to eastern Asia, mainly distributed in China, Russia and Japan. Male deer have antlers, while females do not. Their main characteristic is the many white spots arranged in an orderly manner on the body.

Sika deer do not live in groups, and stags often live alone. They are mainly active in the morning and evening. Because of their slender limbs, they run fast and have strong jumping abilities, especially at climbing steep slopes.

How to Draw a Sika Deer Step by Step

Step 1 Draw the antlers of this sika deer

First draw the antler that is close to us, the one that can be seen completely.

Then on the back of this sika antler, draw another antler slightly to the left.

Although the two antlers look similar, the height of the second antler is a little lower than the first one.

Step 2 Draw the outline of the head and an ear of this sika deer

While drawing the outline of the head, draw the mouth. Then draw the nose and an ear of this sika deer.

Starting at the bottom of the first antler, draw a curved line towards the lower left. Draw this sika deer's mouth below the left end of the line.

Starting at the bottom of the mouth, add a curved line to the right for this sika deer's chin.

Add a short line above the mouth to get the nose. Then you can draw the ear of the sika deer.

On the top right of this head, near the first antler, draw the outline of an ear. Then draw an inner ear inside it.

Step 3 Draw an eye and a line for this sika deer

Draw the outline of an eye socket in the middle of the head. You can first define a point on the lower left and another point on the upper right, and then draw two curved lines to connect them to get a shape like a leaf.

Inside this eye socket, draw an outline that is similar in shape, but flatter. This is the outline of this eye.

Draw a small circle in the middle of the eye. Then add a line to each side of this circle.

After drawing this pretty eye, add a curved line to its left.

Step 4 Draw the neck and back of this sika deer

Starting at the bottom of this ear, draw a short curved line down. Its end should point towards the right end of the chin. This completes the drawing of the head.

Next, starting at the bottom end of this line, draw a curved line down to get the right side of the neck.

Add curved lines to the right of the neck to get the back of this sika deer. It can be seen that the width of the back is close to the width of the head, because this sika deer is sideways.

Step 5 Draw the chest and a front leg of the sika deer

First draw the chest of this sika deer, and then draw a front leg.

Find two dots at the bottom of the head, directly below the left and right ends of the eyes. Draw curved lines downward from these two points, the width between the two lines is always the same, to get the neck and chest of this sika deer.

Nearly perpendicular to the body, draw a front leg on the right of the chest. This leg is rather slender. Draw a short line where it is near the bottom of the leg.

Step 6 Draw the belly and back legs of this sika deer

First draw a back leg of this sika deer, then add another back leg after drawing the belly.

Draw a back leg on the lower right of the body the same way we drew that front leg. This leg is thicker than the front leg.

Between the legs that you have drawn, add two lines from left to right to get the belly of this deer.

Next you can draw the other back leg. It's on the left of the back leg you just drew and is slightly shorter.

Step 7 Draw a front leg, tail and spots of this sika deer

To the left of the already drawn front leg, add a raised leg.

Draw a raised tail on the right of the body. It can be seen that its tail is not long. In fact, the length of the tail of the sika deer is only about one-tenth of the body.

Add some small circles on the body as spots. This cute sika deer is done.

Step 8 Draw the sun, cloud and trees as the background

Draw a cloud to the left of the antlers. Then draw the sun hiding behind this cloud

Add wavy lines on both sides of the deer's body as the trees. Then draw a left-to-right line under the deer for the ground.

Step 9 Color this cute sika deer

The coat color of sika deer changes with the seasons. In summer, the body hair is brownish yellow or chestnut red, and there are many white spots on both sides of the back and the lower edge of the body.

The body hair of sika deer in winter is smoky brown, and the white spots are not obvious. The neck and back of the ears are gray-brown, the belly is white, and the back of the tail is black.
