How to Draw an Erupting Volcano Step by Step

Step 1 Draw the outline of the volcanic cloud

When a volcano erupts, in addition to ejecting magma, there is also a thick plume of smoke.

The outline of this volcanic cloud is generally triangular in shape. You can draw an obscure triangle first as an aid.

Along the edge of this triangle, draw a cloud-like shape with wavy lines. Leave a gap at the bottom.

Step 2 Draw the inner outline of the volcanic cloud

In a similar way to the previous step, draw a slightly smaller similar shape inside this volcanic cloud outline.

There is also a gap at the bottom of this shape. And this gap is above the one we drew in the previous step.

In this way, the volcanic cloud can be made to look more three-dimensional.

Step 3 Draw the details of the volcanic cloud

Look at the shape we drew in the previous step. Draw a curved line near its top and a wavy line from left to right below it.

Then add a curved line to the left of this shape. Finally, draw two cloud-like shapes next to the volcanic cloud.

Step 4 Draw this volcanic cloud and magma

We drew a wavy line in the previous step. Draw a downward curve near its left and right ends respectively.

Then draw the magma ejected from this volcano. It doesn't need to be precise, you can take it easy.

Step 5 Draw the magma of the volcano

Draw a water drop shape on the left of the magma. Then draw another one on the right.

Then draw the flowing magma at the bottom. You can think of it as being drawn inside a trapezoid.

Step 6 Draw the details of the magma

Draw two water drop shapes on the ejected magma. Then on the flowing magma, draw two irregular shapes along the edges.

Add some small circles next to the magma, the upper ones are small and the lower ones are slightly larger.

Step 7 Draw the outline of the volcano

Let's look to the bottom of the flowing magma. Draw a straight line from its left end towards the lower left.

Then draw a straight line from the right end to the bottom right. The bottom ends of these two lines should be on the same horizontal line, and you can draw a connecting line between them.

Step 8 Draw the details of the volcano

Referring to the picture above, draw patterns on this volcano to make the volcano look more realistic.

Of course, you can draw more magma on the surface of this volcano.

Step 9 Color this erupting volcano

When a volcano erupts, fiery red magma and black ash are the main colors. Volcanoes can be colored red, red with gray, or blue-gray. It can also be red on the top and brown on the bottom.
