How to Draw an Island

Speaking of the island, it always makes people yearn, as if every moment on the island is an adventure. Children can build sand castles, chase and play, and enjoy the fun of nature carefree!

You may not know that in ancient times, the sparsely populated and uninhabited islands were natural prisons for exile and imprisonment. Some pirates also set up their homes on islands in order to avoid being hunted, and legends of their treasures are still circulating.

How to Draw an Island Step by Step

Step 1 Draw the leaves of a coconut tree

The leaves of coconut palms are like feathers and can reach lengths of more than 10 feet. And the first thing we want to draw is the largest coconut tree, so its leaves should be drawn bigger.

Let's look at any leaf. It consists of a smooth curve and an almost straight line. There is a slit on one side of this leaf.

Draw the other four leaves in a similar way. Two of the leaves have no splits drawn.

Step 2 Draw the trunk of this coconut tree

There is a gap in the lower right corner of the already drawn leaves. Draw two smooth curved lines down from this gap. The trunk is about 1.5 times as long as the leaves.

Then draw a short curved line connecting their tops. This completes the trunk of this coconut tree.

Step 3 Draw the leaves of another coconut tree

In a similar way to the previous step, draw the leaves of another coconut tree to the right of the already drawn coconut tree.

The overall shape of these leaves is similar to that of the first coconut tree, but the orientation and splits of the leaves are different.

Step 4 Draw the trunk of this coconut tree

In a similar way to step 2, draw the trunk of the coconut tree. This coconut tree looks smaller.

But you need to notice that the bottoms of the two coconut trees are roughly on the same level.

Step 5 Draw the leaves of the third coconut tree

To the left of the first coconut tree, draw the leaves of the third coconut tree. They are located relatively low, under the leaves of the first coconut tree.

You will notice that the overall shape of these leaves is similar to that of the coconut tree on the far right. They are nearly symmetrical, but differ in size.

Step 6 Draw the trunk of this coconut tree

Draw the trunk of the third coconut tree. The trunk slopes to the left, and its bottom is lower than the two coconut trees on the right.

So far we have drawn the trees on this small island. You can also try adding some coconut.

Step 7 Draw an island

Draw a curved line from left to right, past the bottoms of these coconut palms. Then draw a wavy line from its left end to the right to connect its right end.

From this, we drew a small island. You can even add a beach chair to this island.

The drawing tutorial of the beach chair can be seen here: How to Draw a Beach Chair.

Step 8 Draw the sea water

Draw a short line outward on each side of this small island. Then draw a curved line connecting their ends.

This way we get the sea water around this small island.

Of course you can try to make the area of the ocean bigger and add some cute sea creatures.

Step 9 Color this island

Choose brown and green to color these coconut trees. And the island can be colored yellow, just like the color of the beach in our impression. As for the sea water, of course it is blue, but you can choose different shades of blue.
