The Golden Gate Bridge was built in 1937 and is regarded as a symbol of San Francisco. During the gold rush period, the bridge was like a gate leading to the gold mines, hence the name "Golden Gate Bridge".
The Golden Gate Bridge is a monument in the history of human bridges and is recognized as one of the most famous bridges in the world.
It took four and a half years from the groundbreaking to the completion of the bridge, costing a huge cost of more than 35 million US dollars (this was a lot of money at the time!), and the project was quite huge.
Today, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the busiest of countless bridges in the world, with about 100,000 vehicles driving across it every day.
How to Draw the Golden Gate Bridge Step by Step
Step 1 Draw the rocks on the left side of the bridge
When drawing the Golden Gate Bridge, we will first draw the two banks of the bridge, and then draw the famous bridge.
Referring to the illustration above, first draw the outline of a rock. Then draw the other two on the right side of it, their position gradually lower.
Finally, on each rock, add lines along the edges to give them a more textured look.
Step 2 Continue drawing rocks on the left side of the bridge
Below the two rocks on the right, add a polyline from top left to bottom right.
Then to the right of these stones, draw a slope made of rocks by adding some polylines.
So far, we have drawn the land to the left of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Step 3 Draw grass next to rocks
On land, of course, it is not just bare ground in general, there must be plants, such as grass, bushes and big trees and so on.
Here we are going to add grass under the three rocks we drew in the first step. Of course, it's perfectly fine if you want to add some flowers on the side.
When drawing this grass, it is like drawing the back of a hedgehog. This doesn't need to be precise.
Step 4 Draw the land on the other side of the bridge
Now that we've drawn one side of the Golden Gate Bridge, let's finish the other side. This will be much easier than when we drew the first side.
Above the side already drawn, draw a long horizontal line from left to right.
Then above that horizontal line, draw a long wavy line from left to right. It doesn't need to be precise, very simple!
Step 5 Draw a pylon of the bridge
Draw three straight lines from the first side we drew towards the upper right. This is part of the Golden Gate Bridge.
To the right of these three lines, draw two long vertical lines. Then connect their tops to form a rectangular depression.
Between those two vertical lines, we're going to draw four rectangles. Among them, the upper three rectangles are close in size.
Step 6 Draw the bridge and another pylon
On the lower part of the pylon drawn in the previous step, add more details as shown above.
In a similar way, draw another pylon of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. It looks much smaller because it is farther away from us.
Between the two pylons already drawn, extend the three lines we drew at the beginning of the previous step. And extend to the right of the pylon on the right.
Step 7 Draw the suspension cables of this bridge
This is a very long bridge, so there will be suspension cables to help hold the bridge. I believe you have probably seen such a bridge.
First draw a curved line from the bottom left to the top right to reach the top of the pylon on the left. Then along it, add another curved line to the other side of the top of the pylon.
Next, draw some vertical lines down from these two curves to complete the suspension cables on this side.
Step 8 Continue to draw the suspension cables of this bridge
Draw two long curved lines to connect the tops of the two pylons. Then draw two curved lines from the top of the pylon on the right down to the right.
Also, draw some vertical lines down from the two curved lines between the two pylons to complete the suspension cables.
Finally, draw some lines below the Golden Gate Bridge for the water surface.
Step 9 Color the Golden Gate Bridge
The last is coloring. Get out your crayons or watercolors in the appropriate colors to liven up the drawing.
You can also refer to the illustration above and choose red as the color of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We hope you are satisfied with your drawing of the Golden Gate Bridge. But don't be discouraged even if the drawing isn't perfect, you can always start over from scratch.
